AP Credit and Placement Policy

Nearly three-quarters of all states, including California, have implemented statewide or systemwide AP credit policies, which typically require all public higher education institutions to award credit for AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.

AP Funding

Local Control Accountability Plan/Local Control Funding Formula (LCAP/LCFF) Funds

  • Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) Supplemental/Concentration Funds: LCFF provides additional funds for particular student groups (i.e., low-income students, foster students, or English language learners). Districts can use these funds to pay AP Exam fees for students.
  • LCFF Base Grants: In addition to Supplemental and Concentration Grants, districts can use LCFF general-purpose Base Grants to pay for AP Exam fees for all students.
