South Carolina
AP Credit and Placement Policy
Nearly three-quarters of all states, including South Carolina, have implemented statewide or systemwide AP credit policies, which typically require all public higher education institutions to award credit for AP Exam scores of 3 or higher.
AP Funding
South Carolina fully funds AP Exams for public school students enrolled in an AP course who then take the corresponding AP Exam. However, South Carolina currently does not provide funding for AP Precalculus, AP African American Studies, AP Business with Personal Finance, AP Cybersecurity, and AP Networking Exams.
SAT Policy
The state offers public school districts, schools, and/or students the option for the following assessments:
- PSAT 10 or PSAT/NMSQT in 10th grade
- SAT in 11th/12th grade

SAT Policies and Use by Colleges
Nearly all colleges in this state consider SAT or ACT scores in admission for students who choose to submit them, and many also use them to award scholarships and place students in appropriate first-year courses.
