Why Offer the SAT?

Offering the SAT at your school expands access to college and career opportunities for all students.

SAT School Day: Access That Drives Outcomes

By administering the SAT during the school day, educators help ensure every student can open doors to their future.

Break Down Barriers

Offering the SAT during the school day removes common barriers students may face like securing transportation or juggling work or family responsibilities. Flexible testing windows in the fall and spring make it easier for districts and schools to offer SAT School Day.

Build Confidence and Readiness

When students take the test during the school day, they’re more comfortable, confident, and likely to participate. Plus, the SAT provides every student with the most comprehensive, effective set of free practice resources available.

Inspire a Personalized Plan

The SAT helps students put college and career opportunities within reach. When students check their scores on the BigFuture® School app, they receive a skills-aligned Career Insights Snapshot with a list of in-demand careers in their state. This can help them consider career options with their academic skills in mind.

Free Access to Practice Resources

The SAT provides students with world-class, no-cost practice resources, including seven full-length digital practice tests, a robust question bank aligned to state standards, and exclusive Khan Academy® courses. These tools not only reinforce classroom learning but also help students build the skills and confidence they need for test day.

Equipping Students for Success

Completing full-length practice tests in Bluebook™ is associated with higher SAT scores—students who completed one, two, or three or more full-length digital tests scored approximately 25, 45, and 60 points higher, respectively, than similar students who did not complete any.

Empowering Students with More Than a Score

The SAT enables students to drive their postsecondary planning on their terms. Students who are age 13 and older and take an SAT Suite assessment on a school day can view their scores through the BigFuture School mobile app, which includes career insights, to discover options based on their strengths. In schools where available, students can opt in to Connections™ to discover nonprofit colleges and scholarship providers matching their interests that are actively looking for students like them. These tools are optional and secure, allowing students to choose when and whether to share their information.

Support All Students' College and Career Journey

The SAT is the #1 college admission test in the U.S. and sets the bar for digital assessment delivery. In a single two-hour digital test, the SAT provides a reliable measure of the skills students need to succeed in any postsecondary pathway. Aligned to state standards, the SAT provides insights and resources educators and students trust—coupled with unmatched flexibility, operational stability, and accessibility.
